Surat: A 21-year-old youth was arrested after he rammed his car into an autorickshaw in the posh Vesu area on Sunday. While a 2-year-old child in the auto died, four people, including the auto driver, were injured.
After the accident, the locals caught the accused and handed him over to police. Police booked the accused for negligent and rash driving.
The accused, Krish Kejriwal, was going towards Rahul Raj Mall from Jolly Party Plot. While he was crossing the junction, an auto was going towards Magdalla, coming from VNSGU. As Kejriwal was speeding his car, he rammed it into the backside of the autorickshaw. Following this, the auto hit the BRTS divider, resulting in the death of the child, Vidhvat Nikalje. Four people, including the auto driver, were injured and were shifted to Civil Hospital for treatment.
Inspector J I Patel of Vesu police station said, "We arrested Kejriwal after booking him under relevant sections of BNS and MV Act. He is a Class 12 humanities student of CBSE board."
