has perfectly summed up the mood amongst supporters after a dramatic Saturday of action saw .
In the opening game of the Premier League weekend, Liverpool's rivals were dealt a bitter blow to their title hopes after losing 1-0 to at St James' Park. The Gunners looked toothless in attack, managing just one shot on target in a game which was settled by an Alexander Isak header.
The afternoon slate of games saw Liverpool go up against Brighton, while faced off against Bournemouth. However, both Premier League title hopefuls conceded first, with Ferdi Kadioglu netting a sensational goal for Brighton, while Antoine Semenyo scored for Bournemouth.
In the second half, Bournemouth doubled their lead through Evanilson. However, in Liverpool's game, the Reds managed to turn things around thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah. City would go on to lose 2-1, while Liverpool came from behind to win 2-1 - with the latter result moving the Reds two points clear of Manchester City and a whopping seven points clear of Arsenal.
And in a video posted to social media, Carragher has perfectly summed up the mood of Liverpool supporters after the weekend results. In the video Carragher posted to X, the ex-Reds defender can be heard stating: "What a match day that was." And for Liverpool supporters, it would be hard to disagree with Carragher.
Against Brighton, the Reds' defence was torn through on multiple occasions. Had the Seagulls scored a second goal, it would have seemed unlikely Liverpool could have turned things around.
However, at just 1-0 down, they did. A three minute blitz saw the Reds score two quickfire second half goals through Gakpo and Salah - goals which put Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League.
After coming from behind last week to claim a 2-2 draw against Arsenal, the result against Brighton sees Liverpool move seven points clear of the Gunners, who actually sit fourth behind the Reds, Man City and Nottingham Forest. They also now have a two point lead on Man City too.
Liverpool.com says: "Carragher is right, Saturday's results really could not have gone better for Liverpool. Arsenal's defeat to Newcastle looked like it was going to go unpunished by both Liverpool and Man City when they were losing to Brighton and Bournemouth, only for the Reds second half goal blitz seeing them past the Seagulls.
"While City bagged one back through Gvardiol, they were unable to turnaround their fortunes against the Cherries. As things stand, Liverpool sit top of the Premier League table, and will travel to Villa Park next weekend to face Aston Villa knowing a win will keep them there heading into the November international break."
