Although the Reds can call upon as an internal solution, there's a case to be made that additional reinforcement might be necessary, especially given the 21 year old's youth and recurring injury woes.
Hamann expressed his surprise at a missed opportunity, saying: "I was surprised that no one signed Jeremie Frimpong last summer for around $40 million. There was an option and nobody took it, but he's a brilliant player.
"He has lots of pace, he scores and sets up goals, he's a very modern player and he would do a great job in the Premier League. He's more of a wing-back than a full-back, but he would be a great player for Liverpool to have, he'd provide another option outside of Mohamed Salah who likes to cut in on his left foot.
"Every team needs pace and he has certainly got it. He would be a good option for Liverpool if Alexander-Arnold leaves."
Frimpong, despite being born in Amsterdam, relocated to England as a child and honed his skills in Manchester City's academy after joining at the tender age of nine. He moved to Celtic as a teenager in 2019, but truly made waves in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen under Xabi Alonso's historic title-winning squad.
The 24 year old last put pen to paper on a contract extension with the German club in 2023, and his current deal is due to run out in the summer of 2028. This season, Frimpong has netted four goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions so far.
With Alexander-Arnold, Bradley and Joe Gomez all out injured, Curtis Jones has deputized for the Reds in recent matches. He impressed at right back during the Merseyside derby win over Everton in midweek and kept his place for the trip to Fulham on Sunday.
