As the months get colder, skincare experts have noted that searches for ‘Why is my skin dry’ have shot up, and this is set to continue as time goes on.
Humidity in the air naturally decreases in the colder months and this can have an impact on your skin, especially when this happens alongside the use of central heating and hot showers.
While it may feel relaxing to opt for a hot shower, especially when it's cold outside, beauty experts at BEAUTY PIE have suggested lowering the temperature of your daily shower. This is because steamy showers can steal moisture from the skin, adding to the problem of dry skin.

Nicola Moulton, Head of Editorial at , explained: "Ensuring you switch up your skincare and up your water intake can make a huge difference to your skin's hydration levels.
Other daily habits, such as turning down your shower temperature or sleeping on a silk pillow, can also help your skin as it battles through the oncoming winter months.
The main thing to note is that if you notice a dramatic change in your skin, don’t panic too much.
"Our central heating systems pump dry air into the room which can be irritating for your skin, so it’s very normal to experience some change."
Nicola has also shared several other tips for preventing dry skin during the cold winter months. The first of which is to incorporate hydrating serums into your skincare routine.
She explains that using products packed with Hyaluronic Acid will act like a magnet to help draw hydration into the skin.
Alongside this, she suggests using nourishing balms and oils and to regularly exfoliate your skin. And her final tips are to use a silk pillowcase when sleeping and making sure to increase your water intake.
