We knew the responsibility of the food for the Met Gala was in good hands when Teyana Taylor gasped about how she could not wait to try to food, made by Chef Kwame Onwuachi ! Seems like the Young Black Chef has passed his big test with flying colors!
Chef Kwame has left the guests at the event so satisfied and satiated with the food that they didn’t even bother adhering to the one strict rule the fashion event has – the ‘No Phone’ policy!
And thanks to that, now we know what was on the food menu at the Met Gala!
What’s on the Met Menu?
A huge shoutout to Megan Thee Stallion for embodying her vibrant, free-spirited essence. In a bold move that defied the rigid no-phone policy of the prestigious fashion event, she granted us an exclusive glimpse into the remarkable culinary experience of the Met Gala.
Through her video, titled "Hottie Came in thee MET GALA," Megan, accompanied by Grammy Award-winning artist Doechii and WNBA superstar Angel Reese, sat at a beautifully adorned table, indulging in a selection of exquisite hors d’oeuvres while sharing their candid thoughts on each dish. The evening's menu, crafted by the talented Chef Kwame Onwuachi, celebrated a fusion of his Nigerian, Jamaican, and Louisiana roots, which he artfully showcased in every bite.

The delicious delicacies:
Among the culinary highlights was the stunning Cornbread and Caviar , a dish that harmonized Southern comfort with the opulence of high-end ingredients, offering a delightful contrast between warmth and luxury. The White Truffle Lobster Roll transformed the classic Maine dish into a gourmet masterpiece, where the rich and buttery flavor of truffles elevated the fresh lobster to new heights. For those embracing plant-based options, the Vegan Lox served on a Mini Bagel paid homage to the traditional deli culture of Chef Kwame’s New York origins, beautifully combining innovative techniques with nostalgic flavors.
The menu further captivated the guests with Chicken and Plantain , a comfort dish that exuded warmth and soul, reflecting Afro-Caribbean influences that resonate with the vibrant culinary tapestry of the region. The Truffle Chopped Cheese delivered a gourmet twist on a beloved New York street food staple, showcasing the chef's ability to elevate humble ingredients into sophisticated creations. They also sampled what appeared to be a Hamachi bite, an exquisite presentation of fresh carpaccio delicately served in a spoon—a delightful nod to Japanese cuisine that was both clean and elegantly refined.
