Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced a complete water supply shutdown in several parts of Thane on May 9 due to essential maintenance work. The 24-hour water cut will begin on Thursday, May 8, and will continue until noon on Friday, May 9.
This planned disruption is necessary to carry out maintenance at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) water treatment plant, which supplies water to large parts of the city. The affected areas include Diva, where there will be a complete water shutdown, along with most parts of Mumbra (excluding Ward Nos. 26 and 31), Kalwa, Wagle Estate (including Rupadevi Pada, Kisannagar 2, and Nehrunagar), and Manpada (particularly Kolshet Khal village).

Following the restoration of supply, residents may experience low water pressure for the next one to two days, as water lines stabilise after the maintenance work. The TMC has urged citizens living in the affected areas to store adequate water in advance and to use it cautiously during the shutdown period.
Authorities have also appealed to the public for cooperation, stating that the maintenance is part of regular infrastructure upgrades intended to improve the overall quality and consistency of the water supply system in the long run.
Such scheduled maintenance activities are essential to avoid unplanned disruptions, especially ahead of the monsoon season when demand typically increases. TMC officials have assured that all necessary arrangements are being made to complete the repair work on time and restore the supply as early as possible. Updates will be provided through official channels. Citizens are advised to stay informed and plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
