'I Really Have Work': Tamannaah Bhatia DENIES Supporting Deepika Padukone Amid Spirit Controversy With Sandeep Reddy Vanga

Hours after actress Tamannaah Bhatia seemingly 'supported' Deepika Padukone in the midst of the controversy surrounding the latter's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, the former denied any such doing on her part and stated that she did not like the post in question on her own.

It all began after eagle-eyed netizens spotted Tamannaah's 'like' on a video, highlighting the challenges women face in professional spaces. In the video, Deepika was seen shutting down a reporter for assuming that her husband Ranveer Singh had funded her film, Chhapaak, which was originally bankrolled by the actress herself.

Tamannaah denies support to Deepika

The caption on the video read, "Propaganda she is not falling for: Disrespect, men, sexism, gender pay gap, working overtime, unprofessionalism, misogyny, and double standards (sic)," and fans noticed that Tamannaah had 'liked' the post.

Tamannaah's 'like' was dubbed as her support to Deepika amid the ongoing Spirit controversy, but the Odela actress put the speculations to rest with an indirect statement. She wrote on her Instagram stories, "Can Instagram pls figure out how it likes pages on its own? Cause random ppl are making this news and I really have work to do (sic)."

What is the Spirit controversy?

For those unversed, Deepika, who was earlier in talks to star in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming film, Spirit, reportedly quit after the filmmaker refused to accept her demands, related to fixed working hours, remuneration and other conditions.

Later, Vanga issued an official statement and without taking names, accused Deepika of leaking the story of Spirit just because he did not agree to her conditions and dropped her from the film.

"When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA(Non Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you are.... Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for ? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it (sic)," he wrote on X.

The younger actress in question is seemingly Triptii Dimri, who was officially announced as the female lead of Spirit, opposite Prabhas.

Deepika is yet to issue an official statement on the fiasco.
