1. Mohammed Shami
Star pacer Mohammed Shami has been out since November 19, 2024. Despite declaring his readiness for the series, the experienced bowler, who took 44 wickets in 12 Tests against Australia, was not selected.
2. Ruturaj Gaikwad
Promising batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad was expected to be picked as the backup opener. Instead, he will captain the India A team in the upcoming matches against Australia A.
3. Arshdeep Singh
After shining as the joint-highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup 2024, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh seemed set to join the Test squad.
4. Yash Dayal

5. Axar Patel
