Morrisons has released a new Dubai Style , but one thing about it has alarmed foodies. Businesses of different sizes have got in on the viral Dubai trend, creating a range of products inspired by it such as Dubai chocolate cake, strawberry cups, and, of course, the classic Dubai chocolate bar.
With just around the corner, many shoppers will have got their hands on an Easter egg and has unveiled a unique version of the beloved seasonal treat. The 420g product is a milk chocolate egg filled with pistachio and kataifi ganache, as per the Morrisons.
It comes in a plastic box and the egg is attached to a chocolate base which has worried foodies who believe the base is attached to the packaging with a type of glue. The account uknewestfoods shared a video on the platform of the Easter egg.

The person narrating said: “New Dubai chocolate Easter egg from Morrisons has a huge problem.
"When they’ve manufactured this they’ve actually glued the chocolate base of the egg to the packaging with a glue that is not edible.”
However, a spokesperson for Morrisons confirmed that this is not true. They stated that the ‘glue’ is actually “sugar glucose” and that it is edible.
The supermarket’s Dubai Style Chocolate Easter Egg costs £12. The narrator of the uknewestfoods Instagram reel added: “I had to cut it open with a bread knife because it is that thick.
“It’s absolutely delicious if you’re a Dubai chocolate fan and you like pistachio and you’re into the Dubai chocolate craze that’s going on at the moment, this is certainly the egg for you. It’s got everything you could want.
“It’s got kataifi, it’s got pistachio, it’s got chocolate, it’s got ganache, it’s got cream. It’s so thick but the worrying part is that it’s glued to the packaging.”
Morrisons also posted a clip on Instagram of the Dubai chocolate inspired Easter egg a week ago with the caption: “Did someone say Dubai Easter Egg?...Pick up yours in store for £12 when you scan your More Card.”
The video has garnered 155,000 views, 2,270 likes and nearly 100 comments. One user said: “Morrisons in Bolton…this sold out yesterday within 1 hour of being on the shelf.”
Fans of the chocolate egg added comments such as “obsessed”, “this is a great idea”, “got mine!” and “secured mine today.” Edible glue using sugar and glucose can be made by melting sugar with a little bit of water and lemon juice or by using a CMC powder (Tylose) and water mix.
Although uknewestfood's Instagram reel highlights the 'glue' that has been used to stick the chocolate base of the Morrisons Dubai Style Chocolate Easter Egg as inedible, this is not true. Morrisons confirmed that the 'glue' is safe to eat.
It is a "sugar glucose" substance and edible glue is commonly used for cake decorating to attach decorations like sugar flowers or ribbons to cakes. Edible glue can be made at home by mixing sugar with water.
