Colonel Sofia Qureshi's family has been serving in the Indian Army for three generations. If reports are to be believed, her children are also preparing to serve the country.
The daughters of the country are no longer confined to their homes, they are now making their mark on the battlefield as well. Recently, Colonel Sofia Qureshi was in the news after Operation Sindoor . But do you know that this bravery is not just hers, but the legacy of her entire generations.
Sofia Qureshi's connection with the army is not new. Her grandfather was a religious teacher in the Indian Army, while her father Taj Mohammad Qureshi was posted as a Subedar in the BSF. Not only this, her great-grandmother was a part of Rani Lakshmibai's army in the 1857 freedom struggle. Bravery seems to be in her blood.
Children are also getting ready to serve the country
According to reports, Colonel Sofia got married to Colonel Tajuddin Bagewadi in 2015, who is an officer in the Mechanized Infantry. Both are serving the country shoulder to shoulder in the Indian Army. Currently Sofia is posted in Jammu. Her 18-year-old son Sameer is preparing to join the Air Force and daughter Hanima is also dreaming of joining the army.
Where did you study from
Sophia's in-laws are from Konnur village in Gokak taluka of Belgaum district of Karnataka, but her family currently lives in Vadodara, Gujarat. She did her masters in biochemistry from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Vadodara in 1997 and left her PhD in 1999 to join the army. Sophia was the only woman commander in the military exercise 'Force-18' of 18 countries, which shows that she is not going to back down from any challenge.
