POSCO Case Filed Against Ekta Kapoor: Know Why

Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, are facing legal troubles following a case filed against them under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case centers on a controversial episode from the web series Gandii Baat, which aired on Ekta Kapoor's streaming platform, ALT Balaji, between February and April 2021.

The Mumbai Police have stated that the series allegedly included inappropriate and obscene scenes involving minor girls. This prompted a complaint at the MHB police station in Mumbai, resulting in charges under multiple laws, including section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology (IT) Act, and sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act.

Although the specific episode being criticized is no longer available for viewing, the allegations have attracted significant media attention. Critics have raised concerns about the portrayal of minors in objectionable situations, highlighting the need for stricter content regulations on digital platforms.

The legal issues also extend to Balaji Telefilms Limited, the production company co-owned by Ekta and Shobha Kapoor. This isn't the first time that ALT Balaji's content has faced backlash, but the involvement of minor characters in such scenes adds a more serious tone to the ongoing case.

Despite these challenges, Ekta Kapoor is continuing her work in the film industry. On April 19, she launched her highly anticipated drama film, Love, Sex aur Dhokha 2 (LSD 2), directed by Dibakar Banerjee. The film addresses the realities of modern digital life, delving into themes of intimacy and technology through an engaging storyline.
