Bhadrak: The Railways on Tuesday launched a probe into allegations of bullets being fired at Nandan Kanan Express train near Charampa station in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
According to sources, at least two shots were fired at the train near Gate No. 119 close to Charampa station.
East Coast Railway (ECoR), in a statement, said that the guard of the 12816, Anand Vihar- Puri Express reported an incident that the window of the guard van was hit with something piercing through it. “As per the reports, the incident took place in the Bhadrak- Baudpur section of Odisha at around 9.30 am. The RPF staff secured the train and escorted it till Puri. The matter is now under investigation by the GRP,” it said.
No one was injured in the incident, it added.
Sources further said the train left Bhadrak station at around 9.25 am and the firing occurred shortly after that. It was alleged that the guard of the train was fired upon as the train departed from Bhadrak station.
The GRP has started an investigation and efforts are on to identify those involved in the alleged firing, which shattered a window glass of the train, the sources added.
