The UK is preparing for an early taste of with weather maps pointing to exactly where snow is to be expected.
Forecasts show that up to 5cm of snow is expected in parts of Scotland by mid-November.
Weather maps from reveal a strong low-pressure system set to sweep over the country around November 18 to 19, bringing a blast of cold air, rain, and the of the season to certain areas.
According to the latest projections:
Scottish Highlands:
The bulk of the snowfall is expected to hit the Scottish Highlands, where up to 5cm of snow could settle, especially in higher altitudes.
Areas around the Cairngorms, Ben Nevis, and other highland regions are particularly likely to see snow accumulation.
This could create picturesque winter scenes but also pose risks on mountain roads and rural routes.
Northern England Hills:
While snowfall is most likely in Scotland, some higher elevations in northern England-particularly in the Pennines and Lake District-may also see light snow flurries or brief coverings if temperatures drop sufficiently.
However, significant accumulations are less likely here compared to Scotland.
The forecasted snow could lead to early winter travel disruptions, especially on highland roads in Scotland.
Motorists in affected areas are advised to exercise caution, with possible icy patches and reduced visibility in snowy or sleety conditions.
Transport Scotland may issue travel advisories closer to the date, and gritters could be deployed to keep major routes safe.
While heavy snowfall is not expected in central or southern regions, temperatures will drop nationwide, with frosty mornings and possible sleet or wintry showers in northern England.
