Cyclone Dana Live Tracker: 25 NDRF Teams On Standby As Storm Approaches Odisha, West Bengal

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression on early Tuesday and is on course to evolve into a severe cyclonic storm, Dana. In the morning at 5, the depression was approximately 730 km southeast of Paradip, Odisha, moving west-northwest. The storm is projected to land between Puri in Odisha and Sagar Island in Bengal sometime between the night of October 24 and the morning of October 25, with its intensity expected to remain strong. Residents in coastal regions are urged to stay vigilant as conditions are predicted to deteriorate during this period.The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has positioned 14 teams in West Bengal and 11 in Odisha, ready for deployment. The storm's expected landfall has also put central agencies, including the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard, on high alert. Rescue teams, along with aircraft and ships, are on standby for rapid mobilization. In addition, emergency units from the Ministries of Power and Telecommunication are prepared to quickly restore critical services post-cyclone.
