Kolkata Teen Held For Killing Man After Catching Him In Compromising Position With Mother: Report

Kolkata: A 17-year-old boy has been apprehended by police for allegedly killing Abhijit Banerjee, a 56-year-old man who was allegedly in a relationship with the boy's mother. The man was found dead with severe injuries on his head, chest and hands and body covered in blood inside his rooftop room in a Jorabagan house on Thursday. The cops traced the teenager to his home at Chapra in Nadia and during interrogation, the boy confessed to the crime.

Boy's Revelation About His Mother and Man's RelationThe boy claimed that he attacked the man because he was in a relationship with his mother. The accused had allegedly found them in a compromising position and to "take revenge", he attacked Banerjee and killed him, reported Times of India. However, the police said they recovered Banerjee's mobile as well as his gold chain and ring from the boy and were still probing whether the motive was indeed the grudges or robbery. "We found intimate photos of Banerjee and the boy's mother in Banerjee's phone," an officer said, adding the accused teen claimed he took away the victim's phone to delete some of the photographs, the TOI report added.The sleuths said technical evidence from Banerjee's mobile and CCTV footage from the area helped them crack the case. As per the report, the initial postmortem report revealed Banerjee received several cuts on his head and injuries on his hands. "The nature of injuries indicates the accused was a novice and one who bore grudges," said an officer, the report quoted. Who Was Abhijit Banerjee?The deceased was an insurance agent before he switched to rearing and selling pigeons and renting out his car for a living. His sister and nephew lived on a lower floor in the same house where he was found dead. The case came to light after a man, named Papai had rented Banerjee's car and he came to return the keys. Papai had called Banerjee around 8 am on Thursday for the car keys, but the phone went unanswered. As per the report, the man climbed up to the rooftop room to find it locked and approached Banerjee's sister, who sent a neighbour, Pramod Gupta, to help. Thereafter, Gupta managed to climb around the room and pushed open door. He found Banerjee lying face down, half his body on the bed and the rest on the floor. Police said the bed was soaked in blood. The cops added, as per the report, Banerjee's sister told police the gold chain and ring he wore were missing.
