YouTuber and former pilot has been called out for pretending to have been in space, when all he did was experience zero gravity on a plane. The content creator, known online as the Flying Beast, was on a parabolic flight, where he unfurled the Indian national flag, but seemingly played it off as a trip to outer space.“We went to the Space!! Proud to Represent tricolour. Very few people who have walked the planet earth get to experience what zero gravity in space feels like,” Taneja said on .
His flight, however, was a zero-gravity simulator, which replicates the feeling of weightlessness without actually leaving Earth's atmosphere.Taneja failed to get away with his “misleading” claim, debunked by space enthusiasts on social media, with people also finding the flag to be out of place.“Who takes a flag to a zero-gravity simulator? Does he [Gaurav Taneja] think his audience is retarded or smth,” an X user asked.Another, commenting on his Instagram post, wrote: “Caption is bit misleading bro. You are technically not in space. It is an anti-gravity plane as pointed out by many and I don't see it as a big moment to unfurl Indian flag like event. I am a space enthusiast so just saying caption isn't proper, rest of course it must have been a memorable moment for you so congratulations”Not only did Taneja post pictures of himself levitating on the aircraft, they also included other giveaways of his flight being nothing more than a recreational activity. (Zero Gravity Corporation), the US-based company that operates this flight, itself does not claim to offer the true space experience.“Parabolic flights are a way to simulate zero gravity without going to space,” the website states. “They’re used to examine the effects of weightlessness on people and other organisms, including dogs, cats, and monkeys.” also train for zero gravity, or microgravity, on these simulator flights. The plane speeds up at a steep angle, slows down at the top, and then travels back down, creating an environment similar to spaceflight.Experienced Zero Gravity !! pic.twitter.com/tGdHkzL7RO
