Lily Tang Williams, New Hampshire Republican congressional candidate, hit out at her "wealthy" opponent Maggie Goodlander on Thursday, accusing her of favoring the rich and not understanding "regular people’s suffering."
Williams, grew up in China and experienced communist leader Mao Zedong's Cultural Revolution. A law school lecturer and Chinese lawyer by profession, she left China and settled in America, according to The Heritage Foundation. During a debate hosted by news outlet WMUR, Goodlander stated that Williams favored trickle-down economics, a theory that mentioned tax breaks for major companies that would help the economy as a whole, ABC news reported. "I believe that the middle class deserves a tax cut, and I believe that we will do a lot for this country by ensuring that we don't continue this disastrous tax policy," said Goodlander, a former Justice Department Official. In response Williams slammed the Democratic candidate saying, "You are wealthy. You are worth $20 million or $30 million. How do you know about regular people suffering?"Following Thursday's debate, former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. extended his support for Williams, saying he was "so impressed" with her presentation, the news outlet stated. Kennedy also praised Goodlander's performance in the debate. "Maggie Goodlander is one of the queens of the neocons. These are the people who supported the Patriot Act of the surveillance state and censorship state, who have kept us in a constant state of war," he added. The former presidential candidate also referred to Jake Sullivan, Goodlander's husband who currently serves to President Joe Biden as a national security advisor. To the people of New Hampshire District 2...this is the person you need representing you in Congress!!
