Silchar: A guard at the Silchar Circuit House shot himself dead with his service firearm in the rest room of the circuit house on Saturday.

The deceased, Ishwar Singha (51), hailed from Katakuama, Netaji Nagar, under Ratabari police station in Karimganj district.

Cachar SP Numal Mahatta informed the media on Saturday evening that the incident occurred around 2:30 pm. After completing his duty, Ishwar went to his rest room at the circuit house and shot himself with his service firearm. A police team immediately arrived at the scene and rushed Ishwar to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
