Kanpur: A sub-inspector, who was allegedly in an inebriated state, struck a woman with his vehicle while she was buying flowers near a temple in the Kalyanpur area of the city on April 26. Her leg got fractured due to the impact. Before hitting the woman, the sub-inspector had collided with a motorcyclist who fortunately avoided injury.

According to the information received, the woman was buying flowers near the temple when an intoxicated inspector in a car hit her. The people present surrounded the inspector, who in his drunken state, said, "It's no big deal." The people caught him and took him to the police station, while the woman was admitted to the hospital. Local residents gathered at the scene expressed their outrage over the incident, particularly regarding the sub-inspector's unprofessional behaviour.

The victim's husband alleged that due to the accused being police personnel, they were not receiving proper support from the police department. The complaint was registered two days after the incident. The ACP assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted without any bias. tnn
