Nagpur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis took to social media on Saturday to announce that Nagpur would soon have the world's largest cinema screen, calling it a landmark moment for Indian cinema and a proud step for Maharashtra.

Technical and logistical details about the screen — such as its size, venue, or launch date — are yet to be formally announced, it is expected to feature cutting-edge audio-visual technology and may serve as a venue for global film festivals, large-format screenings etc.

The venture is being led by Hyderabad-based producers Abhishek Agarwal, known for ‘The Kashmir Files' and ‘The Vaccine War', along with UV Creations, the banner behind the Baahubali franchise and Saaho. Vikram Reddy of UV Creations is also associated with the project.

Fadnavis described the initiative as an ‘iconic' endeavour aligned with PM Narendra Modi's vision of taking Indian entertainment to a global platform. "India to host the World's Biggest Cinema Screen in Nagpur!" Fadnavis posted on X, adding, "This iconic initiative echoes PM Modi Ji's vision to take Indian entertainment global."

Cinema enthusiasts hailed the move as a futuristic blend of entertainment and infrastructure that could position Nagpur as a new hub in the Indian film exhibition circuit.
