Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have roped in New Zealand pacer William O’Rourke as an injury replacement for Mayank Yadav. William O’Rourke will be his replacement at a reserve price of ₹3 crore.
The 22-year-old has played only two games, picking up two wickets at an expensive economy rate of 12.50.
In his return match, Yadav picked up 2 for 40 against Mumbai Indians. But against Punjab Kings , he was taken for the cleaners. Mayank went for 60 runs in his four overs, the joint-worst figures by an LSG bowler in the IPL.
After an extended rehabilitation at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE), pace sensation Mayank Yadav had joined LSG on April 16.
He has been out of action since then because of a back injury. His comeback was further delayed by a toe injury during his time at the CoE.
Who's that IPL player?
With a history of injury issues – as many as five stress fractures in the last two years – the LSG camp will operate with caution as far as Mayank is concerned.
Even in the 2024 edition of the IPL, he played only four games and was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a side strain.
