The Subway Series got off to a bang on Friday evening as the New York Yankees defeated the New York Mets at Yankee Stadium. Even before a pitch was thrown, there was an electric buzz not only for the game but for how the players dressed to impress. Players from both teams, such as Francisco Lindor and Anthony Volpe, made fashion statements before taking over the action on the field.

Francisco Lindor and Anthony Volpe show off Kith style for series opener

Before the first pitch, the Subway Series was treated to a shot of fashion when players from both sides showed up dressed in attire from the trendy New York label Kith. Lindor, Volpe, Mark Vientos, Carlos Rodon, Cody Bellinger, Brandon Nimmo, and Pete Alonso all showed up dressed in clean, bespoke items. MLB Fits posted images on Instagram with the following caption: "Iconic NYC-based brand Kith got the Yankees and Mets guys ready for their Subway Series arrivals."

The style was appropriate for such a large night in the Bronx. The Yankees and Mets, who always seem to be in the limelight when they play each other, energized not only with their gloves and bats but their fashion too. Fans were able to witness their beloved players expressing a little bit of their fashion sense before stepping out onto the field.

Despite the feud, there was evident respect between the players. Though Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, teammates last year, were now on opposite teams, both remained professional and focused. Judge played a great game, while Soto registered good at-bats, though he failed to record any big hits.

Carlos Rodon dominates as Yankees lineup pounces on Mets pitching

The Yankees made a resounding statement in Game 1 with good hitting and gritty pitching. They came out swinging and did not apologize. Mets pitcher Tylor Megill found himself in trouble early, and the Yankees made full use of it. Judge and Bellinger each had multiple hits, with Anthony Volpe, Jasson Dominguez, Oswald Peraza, and Paul Goldschmidt each driving home crucial runs.

Carlos Rodon threw a solid five innings. He allowed only one run on two hits and fanned five hitters. That effort won him his fifth of the year. He currently stands at 5-3, a 3.17 ERA, and 72 strikeouts for the season. His effort got things off to a good start and kept the Yankees in command all game long.

The victory provided the Yankees with a good series start and boosted the energy of the crowd at Yankee Stadium. Their aggressive offense and strong pitching were too much for the Mets this evening.
