Send Push
Stuart Skinner , goalie of the Edmonton Oilers , gave the fans nearly a way out when he collided with Colorado Avalanche's Mikko Rantanen . The accident happened in an earlier game and left Skinner shaken for a few seconds. However, shortly thereafter, he was able to calm everyone by saying that he was just fine and making a little joke about it.

The Play That Sparked Concern

Rantanen, known for playing physically, plowed into Skinner while standing his ground to defend against the violent front. The impact shoved the Oilers' goaltender out of sight, and sudden concern arose from all players, coaches, and medical personnel. Skinner remained down for a few seconds but later skated away. After a brief exam, he went back out on the ice, showing no signs of any serious injuries.

Skinner’s Lighthearted Response

After the game, Skinner took it all with humor, saying cheekily he was fine but might have suffered a concussion from the hit inferring he wasn't. His wit eliminated any serious fears for his health and proved what Edmonton fans already know: he is a tough competitor.

Nevertheless, Skinner was solid, and the avalanche kept coming. He was able to manage for most of the game against a lightning-fast offense. The mental quality to take a hit and still compete speaks volumes.

Goalies getting injured can single-handedly sink a team, and Skinner's quick recovery was a relief for the Oilers. His quip afterward also showed he had a cool head in a tough moment. To get into the playoffs, he has to be at his best mentally and physically.
