NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday criticised West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee for not visiting violence-hit areas in Murshidabad, adding that she "hates" Hindus.
The saffron party also targeted CPI (M) claiming that the left party has not yet recognised two people killed during the clashes as its workers because "they were Hindus."
During a press conference at the party headquarters, BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra, said Mamata Banerjee "hates Hindus," when asked about her not visiting the violence-hit region.
At least three people were killed and several were injured in the violence that broke out during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. According to police, over 200 people were arrested.
Taking a dig at Banerjee, the BJP leader said that the Bengal CM would have been agitating and camping if such atrocities had been carried out against "Muslim brothers."
"Those who were killed in the violence were communist party workers. Neither the communist party nor Mamata Banerjee is owning them. Their only fault is that their names are Hargobind and Chandan," he said.
Since the violence broke out in Bengal's Murshidabad, BJP has been targeting Mamata over the law and order in the state.
