JIND: In view of the new threat of COVID, the Health Department has gone into alert mode. Officials from the department stated that training for the newly appointed doctors in Jind will begin on Wednesday. They will be trained on methods to prevent COVID and how to effectively deal with it.
Dr Bijender Dhanda, the COVID in-charge for Jind, said that all health centres in the district have been activated and everyone is on alert mode. Preparations are underway regarding the oxygen supply. The process to repair the oxygen plant installed at the Jind General Hospital was initiated so that there is no need to rely on external sources in case of an emergency.
He mentioned that this new variant is spreading rapidly, so people need to remain cautious. Although a complete study is still pending, based on its transmission rate, it can be estimated that it is highly contagious. Currently, the number of OPD patients with fever, headache, and sore throat issues has also increased. Considering this situation, a separate flu corner has been set up and monitoring is being conducted throughout the district. We are fully prepared to deal with this variant.
He also stated that the major impact of this variant is currently seen in Kerala, Maharashtra, and the Delhi region. In Haryana, the number of cases is still low. So far, the death toll across India is around 60, and in Haryana, about 12 cases were reported. People need to stay aware and alert.
