Weather Update: Mild Cold in North India, Heavy Rain Warning for Southern and Coastal Areas

: Mild cold has started to be felt in the mornings and evenings across North India, while the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rain in several areas located along the eastern and western coasts of the country. According to the IMD, a yellow warning has been issued for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka on October 22 due to expected heavy rains.

Cyclonic Storm Alert

A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal intensified on Monday night and is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm by October 23. This has led to a drop in temperatures in surrounding areas, including Delhi. The IMD has issued heavy rain alerts for many states.

Rain Warnings Across Southern States

The IMD has forecast heavy rains for Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, with rain expected at various locations in Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal on October 24 and 25.

  • Odisha: Heavy rain is expected on October 23 and October 26, with the possibility of very heavy rain on October 24 and 25.
  • Gangetic West Bengal: Heavy rains are forecast for October 23, 24, and 25.
  • Jharkhand: Heavy rain is expected on October 24.
Delhi Weather Forecast

In Delhi, the weather is fluctuating between daytime heat and cooler nights. IMD has forecast a clear sky with bright sunshine for this week. Temperatures are expected to remain between 34 and 35 degrees Celsius.

Heavy Rain Warning in Other States

According to Skymet, light rain is expected in the following regions over the next 24 hours:

  • Andaman and Nicobar Islands
  • Tamil Nadu
  • Karnataka
  • Konkan and Goa

Additional rain is likely in South Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, South Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Light rain is also expected in Lakshadweep, Vidarbha, South Rajasthan, Sikkim, and Northeast India.
